Chasis and its purpose

What is chassis

Fully functional and movable unit except the body consisting of all the systems mounted is called a chassis.It forms the main structure of an automobile.Chassis consist of an internal framework that supports an object in its construction.It is an under lieing support structure,it is similar to that of skeleton in an animal.It gives an strength to the vehicle and acts like an platform for mounting engine and many mechanical components.

Purpose of Chassis

1.To connect all four wheels with a structure which is rigid in bending and torsion.

2.It must be capable of supporting all components and occupants and should absorb all kinds of    loads fed into it without deflecting unduly.

3.Absorb aerodynamic wind forces and road shocks through suspension.simply speaking it acts as  a skeleton of an vehicle.
